About Ruland Manufacturing Ruland Manufacturing, founded in 1937, is a stable and growing family owned domestic manufacturer of shaft collars, rigid couplings, and motion control couplingsWe are a culturally diverse company with 65 employees representing more than ten countriesRuland has sales and marketing offices in Berlin, Germany and Shanghai, China to support local customers in these marketsOur internal teams consist of operations/manufacturing, marketing, sales, customer service, engineering, and accounting working together to exceed customer expectationsWe contribute to our community through our donation of time and parts to the FIRST Robotics CompetitionOur vision is to be a 100-year-old successfully run family businessQualifications Ruland Manufacturing is looking for a CNC Setup Machinist to join a diverse manufacturing team that operates Haas, Brother, and RoboDrill CNC mills and lathes in a fast-paced production environment where programs are prewritten by engineeringThe ideal team member must be willing to setup and/or operate three to six machines at a time while performing routine inspections, helping operators make in-depth mechanical adjustments, and identifying visual product defectsThe CNC Setup Machinist must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment where results are measured, and performance is rewardedDue to Ruland's fast growth the CNC Setup Machinist must be comfortable adapting to changes in technology, processes, and equipmentThis person will train operators on new equipment and help them advance to setting up machinesThe primary responsibilities of the Machine Operator are operating equipment that has already been setup, performing routine inspections, operating manual lathes for secondary operations, making process recommendations and regularly reporting any issues with quality or safety, to the production supervisorSuccess of the Machine Operator will be measured by productivity, scrap rate, average lead time, late orders, and compliance with process and safety standardsTeam results are measured on a daily basis allowing for a transparent view of performanceRuland expects the CNC Setup Machinist to perform routine inspections to maintain our industry exceeding quality standardsInspections are performed until consistency of the part setup has been established, when an operator has a quality issue they can not fix, and on a routine basis depending on workloadRuland uses standard monitoring and measuring equipment as well as visual aids to ensure compliance with documented standardsSetup machinists must possess good math skills and the ability to program and mechanical adjustments to maintain qualityRuland is a high mix, small to medium run-size production environment with schedules that can change daily depending on customer orders and needThe CNC Setup Machinist must be flexible and willing to adapt to these changing schedules including giving input on if parts can be run that dayStrong organizational skills are required which include keeping a tidy work area, understanding of what parts are running on each machine, having blanks prepped to be run, and attention to detail with inspection sheetsTo keep up with the demanding schedule the CNC Setup Machinist must be quick and efficient with changeovers, group setups, and prepare fixturing and tooling in advance of setupRuland puts a high priority on keeping a safe work environment and is compliant with OSHA requirementsSafety recommendations are encouraged by all team members to prevent potential injuryRuland celebrates safety milestones of no injuries with a company party

High school diploma, GED or equivalent applicable work experience in a manufacturing environmentSetup experience with Haas mill and lathes and Brother or RoboDrill millsExperience with Haas and/or Fanuc controlsPrior experience with an ERP such as Exact MacolaWork experience in an SMBPreferred:
Prior experience in a high production environmentExperience manufacturing small componentsExperience entering inventory transactionsExperience training operators on new equipment or how to setupFamiliarity with OSHA regulationsDesired:
